Henderson scores runner-up finish in ACAS opener at SMS

Matt Henderson invaded Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Friday night powering the RW Properties No. 22 CVR Chassis Late Model for the American Crate All-Star Series sanctioned program. Drawing 45 cars for the King of the Mountain Championship, Henderson followed up the second fastest lap overall in time trials behind Carder Miller with a Dash victory. Starting on the pole for the opening night feature, Henderson led the first two circuits until Carder Miller snuck by. He wrestled the lead back on lap 19 for six circuits until Miller regained the top spot. Coming in second when the checkered flag flew, Matt Henderson trailed Miller across the line with Jensen Ford, Eli Beets, and Jake Teague rounding out the Top-5.

The following night, Matt came in 13th fastest overall in time trials before placing fifth in his heat. Cruising to a consolation victory, Henderson locked into the 19th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win finale. Passing five cars in the 40-lap finale, Matt Henderson recorded a 14th place outing.
